STANLEY BALDWIN

Stanley Baldwin was Prime Minister three times in the 1920s and 1930s. Often thankful to escape the affairs of state for his home county of Worcestershire, he lived more than half his life at Astley Hall, not far from Bewdley.

He is depicted in tweed suit and with his pipe in hand, the image of the stable leader that he wanted to project for the country between the two world wars.

Following lengthy fundraising by Bewdley Civic Society, supported by the current Earl Baldwin of Bewdley, the statue was unveiled in the centre of the town by HRH Duke of Gloucester in September 2018.
